Portland Perspectives on Global Issues

As many of you know, this summer I have been working with the Northwest Institute for Social Change. Tomorrow evening is our final event and we will be screening the radio and film documentaries that our fellows have worked so hard to create this summer. Details of the event are as follows! Please spread the word, and I hope to see you tomorrow evening!

Invite by Benjamin Hovland

Invite by Sara Rasmussen

This summer, nine students from around the country brought their creative forces to Portland to learn about media and social change. In six weeks, the fellows produced five radio documentaries and three short films highlighting Portland solutions to global issues. The Northwest Institute for Social Change's Summer Documentary Fellows are proud to invite you to our showcase event.

Portland Perspectives on Global Issues: Final Documentary Project Exhibition
Wednesday, August 11 ∙ 7:00pm – 9:00pm
P:ear gallery space, 338 NW 6th Avenue, Portland, OR 97209

Please join us for a viewing of our films about backyard chicken coops in the city, the Children's Healing Art Project (CHAP), and a youth employment program between Urban Opportunities and Voodoo Doughnut. And experience our radio stories about Portland Streetcar expansion, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Camp for Girls, the Community Cycling Center, Mercy Corps microfinance program for women, and the Community Energy Project.

Come celebrate what is great about Portland with a new generation of documentary makers and social changers.

We hope to see you there!
